Dermoporation combines electroporation and electrophoresis; in this way, the active substances penetrate the skin and are absorbed deeply.

Electroporation consists in the application of short electric impulses on the cells and tissues. Such electric impulses act on the cell membranes and in particular, on the lipid intercellular spaces, bringing about molecular changes which lead to the formation of ultramicropores. These ultramicropores increase the cutaneous permeability up to 400 times.

The intercellular passage of the substance is completed by osmosis. For example, it is possible to introduce a whole molecule of bovine collagen (0.8 microns). The active substances are introduced in the form of liposomes to make sure there is an affinity with the membrane.

Electrophoresis , substances penetrate the skin by means of a continuous current, which produces the electric repulsion of molecules; thus, the passage of such molecules to the cellular interior is easy (molecules of equal charge repel each other). The diversion of these molecules (ions) brings about the generation of liquid canals among cells and the opening of pores in the phospholipidic bilayer of the cellular membrane.
